A friend, (Kay Beckman) asked if we were looking for a church. Kay managed the day care facility that we were using for our daughter. Kay mentioned that Evergreen was a different type of church and the people were great.
Monique and I had been looking for a church, but had yet to find one. We attended Hosanna and a few other churches, but were still in search of a comfortable fit. Hosanna was a bit too big, and the 2.5 hour Greek Orthodox service--complete with incense--felt more like a marathon than a worship service.
About a week or so after Kay initially invited us, we received a door hanger inviting us to Evergreen-Lakeville. We decided to attend one summer Sunday.
We were greeted by Mary Wiseman, who took us by the hand and made us feel welcome, and then we settled in and enjoyed the service. After the service we met with Kay, Mary and several other Lakeville members.
Since that initial service, we have been blessed beyond our imagination and our lives have been transformed in more ways than I can explain. I learned what a true relationship with the Lord meant; Monique, Maddie, and Allie have been saved as well. We later learned that Tony Schultz was the Evergreener who put the door hanger on our door.
It is interesting that three different Evergreen members played a part in our becoming part of the Evergreen family. Can you say “divine appointment”!
