HOW ONE PERSON'S STEP OF FAITH CHANGED A LIFE

LISA BERNARD'S STORY

My girlfriend and I were out to lunch at the Good Earth in Edina back in 1990. As we were waiting for a table, I brought up the subject of finding a church. Spencer and I were planning to be married in a few months, and we were having trouble finding a place that felt like home. My friend suggested a church she had been hearing of called “Evergreen”.

I told her we had gotten one or two of Evergreen’s ads in the mail, but weren’t planning to attend. At that moment a girl standing next to me turned around.

“Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but overhear. I go to Evergreen and I think it’s a great church. We go there and my husband even plays in the band”.

Susan Jaeger, who now attends our Lakeville location, was the one who took this simple step of faith. As we talked, her friendliness did what Evergreen’s advertising could not do. She made us want to give Evergreen a try. And we did.

The lesson? God uses acts of faith, even small ones. If you’re willing to take the step, God will provide the opportunities.

Lisa and Spencer Bernard attend our Evergreen-Bloomington location. Spencer accepted Christ as a result of attending Evergreen. Today, Spencer is a pastor and music director at Bloomington.
